antique yew wood windsor chair


fine windsor chair

made from yew wood and elm with a deep caramel patina this is handsome and comfortable chair.  the  fretted back splat and well turned legs exude quality. there is a small iron ferrule  added to the foot of the left front leg, this is a common C19th repair to prevent a split from worsening.
english. north east midlands, this chair bears strong resemblance to the work of  benjamin gilling of worksop. Circa 1845
